‘Tis the season…to give thanks (wait your turn, Santa). There are many things you are probably thankful for, but have you ever wondered what your dog is thankful for? Here are a few elements of life that keep your dog’s tail wagging from a pup-perspective.

1. Squirrels at the park

There’s nothing like getting in touch with your primal instincts, am I right? Chasing squirrels is an instinct that’s almost impossible to resist. Smelling those little critters and chasing them up a tree is top-notch play time.

2. Rolled-down car windows

It’s more than just feeling the wind in our fur. We dogs detect scents in much more detail than the everyday human. So when we stick our heads out of the car window, it’s an absolute feast of scents!

3. Toys

We are very particular about which inanimate objects we find the most fun. This can be stuffed animals, tennis balls, or even water bottles. Anything that makes sound, can be torn apart, or tastes yummy is a toy in our book.

4. The fluff inside of toys

Once a toy is ripped open, there’s always a surprise on the inside! Humans call it fluff and we don’t understand why it’s not all over the floor all the time. You’re welcome.

5. Food you drop on the floor

If you have a dog, you never have to own a vacuum. This is just a fact of life. We are thankful for all the dropped ingredients and last bites you’ve mourned.

6. Linens

We love licking the same spot over and over and over…until there’s a huge wet spot right where your feet go.

…by the beach, or the woods, or the dog park. Basically any kind of walking outdoors for any length of time. We can’t contain our excitement when we even think you might be reaching for the leash to take us outside.

8. Toilet water

We don’t understand why you leave a bowl on the floor that you constantly have to refill, when there’s a room with a massive bowl of water that refills itself. I’m thankful for the convenience of that massive bowl.

9. Freshly Showered Legs

Mlem, mlem…I’m just trying to help…mlem mlem.

There are lots of great things about life to enjoy, but none of them would mean anything without you!
