There are plenty of places and activities right here in San Antonio to take your pup and show them just how much you love them. Classic Dinner-and-a-Movie
Skip the kibble and treat your pup to an evening out at one of many restaurants in San Antonio with a dog-friendly patio. Share a slice at Stella Public House, enjoy vegetarian options at The Cove, or indulge in the irresistible wings at Cullum’s Attagirl. After dinner, head out to a Slab Cinema event. They host outdoor movies at public parks and other dog-friendly venues around town. In the event that the weather is awful and there’s nowhere to go watch a movie, no one ever complained about snuggling on the couch at home, just saying. Remember to limit your pup’s consumption of human foods. Any scraps should be occasional and given in small quantities. The safest bets for sharable foods are lean meats and vegetables, but even these should be consumed in moderation. Consult your vet for allergies and be aware of human foods that may be toxic. A quick Google search never hurt anybody.
An Adventurous Excursion
The great outdoors offers endless moments of awe…not to mention all the great smells! Venture out of the city and take a long walk along the Loop Trail at Enchanted Rock or the trails at Garner State Park. There are also plenty of parks within the city that are worth exploring such as O.P. Schnabel, Phil Harberger, and Brackenridge Park. If you want to be extra cute, consider packing a picnic to share. Be sure to bring water for you both to stay hydrated and poop bags to help keep the parks clean and enjoyable for other guests. Remember to keep your dog on-leash on these trails to keep them safe and out of trouble.
Hit Up a Bar
You read that right. Let’s face it, your dog has simple needs – food, water, and your unconditional love. It doesn’t matter where you are as long as you’re together. There are lots of great laid-back bars with outdoor seating for both of you to enjoy. For the beer-drinkers, check out Alamo Beer, Roadmap Brewin Co., or Künstler Brewery. If you’re looking for a wide selection of beers but also looking for a bite to eat, Hub Mrkt, The Cherrity Bar, and The Friendly Spot Ice House are viable options. Looking for cocktails?
