DESCRIPTION:Is one of your New Year’s Resolutions to hike around an enormous pink granite pluton rock formation?? Well\, you are in luck!! Join your fellow Hounds in the first adventure of 2020 by hiking at Enchanted Rock! \nAlthough Tonkawa Indians believed ghost fires flicker at the top and weird creaking and groaning can usually be heard on the trails\, Enchanted Rock is an awesome day trip from San Antonio any way you slice it. Great drive\, awesome scenery\, abundant wildlife\, and pretty awesome trails to explore. \nCost:\n$7 gets you in or free with a Texas State Park Pass.\nFind out more HERE: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/enchanted_rock/ \nImportant Note:\nThis park does reach capacity. THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE ENTRE IS TO RESERVE ONLINE! \nThe Trail:\n==> Loop Trail – Dogs are no longer allowed on the Summit so we will be doing about a 3-mile Out-N-Back portion the Loop Trail\, which is a fairly easy hike with a few small inclines. You can chose to do the full loop\, which is a four-five mile loop around Little Rock and Enchanted Rock. \nWe’ll go at a fairly leisurely pace either way that will give us a chance to soak in the all the great scenery and be sure to take plenty of breaks. \nHere’s a map (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/media/park_maps/pwd_mp_p4507_119c.pdf). \nWhat to Bring:\nThere are no trash cans or water fountains on the trail so be sure to bring a generous amount of water for you and your dogs (park recommends a quart of water per person) and dog bags for clean-up. You might also want to bring something to place used ones in too. Lugging one around in your hands for several miles is no fun. \nWhere to Meet:\nUpon entering the park and checking in at park headquarters\, make your first left then first right to the main day-use lots that end with a circle drive. We’ll launch from the area with the restrooms and vending truck. \nCarpool/Caravan from San Antonio\nFor those who want to caravan/carpool\, meet in front of Bass Pro Shop on IH 10. Departure time is 8:30AM sharp.
