How did your dog become a part of your life?

Max came into our life as our 3rd dog back in 2019. He was a bite risk we decided to keep so that he wouldn’t get himself into trouble if he had been adopted out. He is a hot mess but he’s mellowed with age. He wears a diaper because he pees on things.

What makes your dog unique?

His DNA test came back mostly Chihuahua but he doesn’t look like one at all. He does act like a naughty Chihuahua though. He loves to lick, and his tongue is 100% Pekingese! His eyes look like human eyes.

His groomer, Jacob, makes Max look beautiful, then Max goes home and likes to rub his face on the ground in the stinkiest places he can find. So we have to wipe his face by hand all the time. I believe he likes being treated like a little baby and does it on purpose.

What’s your favorite way to spoil your dog?

Max is the king of our household and he is treated as such. Everyone adores him. Max rules!

What’s the most rewarding thing about being a dog owner for you?

Our animals give us so much love, I can’t imagine not having them. We recently lost two of our big older dogs this year and it puts things into perspective. The time goes by so quickly with them. I’m glad I took an extra thousand or so photos of them.

It’s hard to believe our big dogs are gone, Max can even sense it. We are now fostering again so he can have a friend and we can see if we are ready to add another dog. Fostering is a great way to do that and it’s also very rewarding.

Tell us about your favorite thing to do with your dog in San Antonio.

Walks around the neighborhood. Going on road trips. And he sleeps in bed with us, of course.
